The trip starts from Dedoplistskaro. Soon after leaving the town, road goes between agricultural fields which serve as favored hunting grounds for various birds of prey. Here you meet Kestrels, Harriers, Buzzards, Eagles... And if you’re well prepared, you might even capture stunning photographs from the comfort of your car
Still in the middle of nowhere, you will visit an abandoned Soviet military airfield. Hangars, a runway, and even an old ruined plane can be seen here.
Stop at the Vashlovani Rangers’ Station — enjoy the view over the arid light forest, the core of the National Park.
Next comes a short stop at Leopard Viewpoint. From here you’ll enter Pantishara Gorge, where you take a little journey into the geological past of the area.
And it’s lunchtime! Grab your lunch box and enjoy locally-made food and warm coffee right in the middle of the wilderness.
Continue driving along a dry riverbed through the canyon. Rugged cliffs are favorite perching spots for vultures — with a spotter, you can even make impressive videos using your phone.
We'll try to spot them and observe from a distance while learning about their remarkable return to Georgia.
After passing the border checkpoint, you’ll enter a small valley again, drive through savanna-like woodland, and stop at another breathtaking viewpoint. This vantage point offers a splendid view of the path you've traversed.
From here, you’ll return to Dedoplistskaro.
